] ] If you love poetry, you'll want to read Possession. It concerns a secret love affair between two Victorian poets. A.S. Byatt wrote reams of poetry for the story (although some of us admit to doing a bit of skimming).
Wow, jenn -- looks like we'll be adding "Possession" to the list immediately following "Rameau's Niece." :)
About the poetry thing... it is hard to read sometimes. But if it's any comfort, someone else doth understand. I think the following is so beautifully and wonderfully stated (and not just because it's Jane Austin, either!):
"She ventured to hope he did not always read only poetry: and to say, that she thought it was the misfortune of poetry, to be seldom safely enjoyed by those who enjoyed it completely; and that the strong feelings which alone could estimate it truly, were the very feelings which ought to taste it but sparingly."
bj :)
"Ay, a very bad business indeed. -- A new sort of way this, for a young fellow to be making love, by breaking his mistress's head! -- is not it, Miss Elliot?"
... and if you hadn't guessed, I'm reading "Persuasion" and am quite overpowered at how wonderful it is. :)
