I don't understand what Austen meant when she said Mansfield Park was about ordination. I don't see that in the book.
Edmund is ordained...as a clergyman. Maybe the whole damn thing is supposed to be about him and not Fanny. We see the growth of a character through the eyes of another? The book is, in a way, about the decisions people make - Edmund and Mary in particular. Maybe that's what she meant. I'm not sure that works terribly well...
