] Hello,

] I have read some of the posts here that have discussed either Mansfield Park, Fanny or Edmund because I've just finished MP and really loved it. I have a question though. Why doesn't anyone here, or at least those who in my newbiness seem to be many, like Edmund? I do admit that I was thoroughly ticked with him when he was decieved for so long by Miss Crawford, but he did eventually get over it. And he was the better for it because he realised how important and patient Fanny was to him. And, yes, Fanny is my favorite character in the book and I think I like her more than any others I've read about because I can identify with her so much. Back to Edmund though, also another winning point for me was when Edmund told off Miss Crawford. I really wish that that had been portrayed as it happened.

] I'm really sorry for this long post! And also sorry if you don't think the question worth the interest I have in it. I look forward to learning more about Ms. Austen and her works through this page and the people that participate in it.

I don't really like Edmund simply because he's do very dull. When JA portrayed the Bertram Boys she made them such polar opposites, allocating all of the free spirits to Tom and giving all the stodge to Edmund. Is he a good man? No doubt, but he acts almost like a father to Fanny. Some women find this a wonderfully acctractive quality, I do not. So to each her own and vive la differance!
