thanks, amy. that lecture made a great welcome back to me after a forced absence from the republic(lightning struck my computer - not to be confused with editorial follow-up to my comments). how does one summarize that lecture, or austenmania in general? it may be "two inches of ivory", but what a fantastic two inches to have discovered! a lifetime can't exhaust it. the professor had some great critical references that i'd never heard - gave me a lot of stuff i'd like to follow-up on. noticed he WAS NOT IMPRESSED by e3, but i'm sure he will be after re-viewing ;-) he said beckinsale was very good, though, which, imho, is like saying shakespeare had an interest in drama. great to be home!
