In reply to Who pays for Lady Susan's lodgings? posted by Linda on August 08, 1997 at 09:11:56
] I was under the impression that LadyS had spent all her husband's money before his death. That that is the reason that she visits around.
] However, when she removes from Churchill to town, she seems to have her own place (arranged by Mrs. J).
] How does she pay for it? Although Alicia made the arrangements, I doubt that she could pay for it because her husband hates LadyS.
I imagine she probably has some money left, just very, very, little. The rooms would have been likely to be relatively inexpensive, too.
And one wouldn't put it past her simply to move out and not pay her bill at the end of her stay--either leaving Mrs.J to pay rather than be nagged constantly or leaving the owner of the house wanting.
What an admirable creature she is!
