Maybe she was having fun exploring the limits of female power!? What another post described as the one-dimensional aspects of the LS characters may have allowed for a greater feeling of "just having fun" with the story.

I've enjoyed the overall tone of LS -- quite gossipy. Although as I've gone back and re-read letters, the one-dimensional characters sometimes take on greater dimension when I pay attention to the particular aspects of a situation or conversation a character *chooses* to relate in a letter.
