I love "East of Eden" ! It is in fact one of my favourites, especially the last part of it. The books we like touches us in a way we can't explain, and that is the main reason for our likes or dislikes, isn't it? I don't actually understand why Mark Twains books suddenly get uninteresting because of some of his opinions. That has nothing to do with the value of his literature, has it? (But I assure you, I didn't like what he said at all! :-) )
