] I agree. I absolutely hate Steinbeck, The Pearl almost killed me. I tried to read The Grapes of Wrath, I'm on page 1, ditto for Cannery Row.
] I surprised myself, it's my third try for East of Eden and I got to page 200.

...to be reading boring books! I absolutely loathed Grapes of Wrath. We had to read it in Grade 12, and shall I confess now that I faked having read it! I skimmed--fast! Ick! The WHOLE chapter about the turtle crossing the road did me in! On the other hand, I did read East of Eden, and I quite liked it. Can't really say why.
