...that she takes the role of Tess after her sister's death. To us it may seem a little strange but it was quite acceptable under the circumstances.
It is implied that Angel and 'Liza Lu are bound together, it says so in the novel but, not having a copy at my disposal at the moment, I can't quote it. It is (in a way) the last request of Tess that he marry/look after 'Liza Lu and, as a holy man and her husband, I believe Angel would have followed her instruction.
