Badly said, indeed, but...

In response to *fuming* I vow never to read a novel by Mark Twain!!!, written by Chael on October 01, 1998 at 16:20:18

Back to the LibraryIt's been a while since the last time I read anything by Twain, but now I actually feel like trying some... I really find these comments rather fascinating - especially the two last ones, which I hadn't seen before. Wouldn't you like to be able to understand why Twain hated JA so much? And why he read her books anyway ("Everytime I read 'Pride and Prejudice' - - -")? Even he clearly thought that Jane's writings were somehow special :).

I of course love discussing JA with people who love her writings the same way I do, but I think it would also be very interesting to hear some day a few really thorough comments from those who manage to passionately dislike her after actually reading her works. So far, I have never actually met such people.

And btw, Twain's novels aren't that bad, really. :)
