I didn't really enjoy the story line, in and of itself, as much as I enjoyed the symbolism and imagery of it all. Just some of Golding's turns of phrase are gorgeous. Our class really got into the symbolism of it all more than anything else. To me, that was the best part. All the Freudian stuff, etc. It was kind of like a game to me, trying to figure it out and discussing the book in class. Overall, it wasn't a book I'd read for fun, but for English class, it was one of the better ones.
