] ] ] Does Lady Susan have a home of her own? Presumably, Vernon Castle was sold 6 years ago (give or take). Where were she and her husband living in the meantime? And why does she have (apparently) no place to live now?

] ]She lived with the Manwarings on purpose, it seems, to attract Mr. Manwaring, and make his wife miserable. She then removed to Churchill, possibly to ingratiate herself with her rich brother-in-law. Maybe she was hoping to get some money from him, or at least live there rent-free, until she married a rich man again.

] I got the impression that she visited Churchill because she had so upset Mrs Manwaring that she was no longer welcome there. She had to leave quickly and the Vernon's home was her best choice since they were family.

Yeah, that too. But were the Vernons her only choice? Had she turned everybody so much against her that she was no longer welcome anywhere that wasn't family?
