Lord of the Flies

We just finished reading Lord of the Fliesin English, and I was just curious as to what the people on Pemberley thought of the book (or movie, if you've seen it). Personally, I really enjoyed it, more for the symbolism than for the actual story, which reminded me of Gilligan's Island. I liked trying to get the meaning behind each character and prop. Any other opinions?
P.S. I'm now reading Heart of Darkness and would appreciate comments on that as well.
