It's only now that I realize why Tess may have killed Alec. Her motive was Angel's statement on their wedding night. They could never truly be together if Alec was alive.
Another thought -- Angel mentions that he could forgive Tess (in the wedding night scene) but his issues with her past went beyond the two of them. He also talked about how word of her past indiscretions were known, and could spread, and this would impact their children. He didn't want to have a family with her.
