In response to Enjoying Hardy, written by Kay on September 17, 1998 at 10:35:31

Back to the Library ] I thing Pemberleyans would enjoy "Far From the Madding Crowd," however. It is a little more upbeat than other Hardy stories and it has a happy ending. Although the characters of Bathsheba and Gabriel have different personality types, I see some similarities to Emma and Mr. Knightley.

] And those who get disgusted with Angel Clare and Alec D'Urberville can rest assured that Hardy did know how to present a more perfect hero.

I guess I just echoed you in another post. I completely agree!! I loved Gabriel Oak!
