In response to Masterpiece Theater and was there a sequel??, written by KateMcQ on September 17, 1998 at 19:19:15
] I remember watching the Masterpiece Theater production and being profoundly moved. Then I read the book and was even more moved. What a terrible experience to loose so many in such a short time. If I recall, she wrote the Testament of Youth and then there was another one - the Testament of Rememberance?? I think the second book spoke to her life after the war and ultimate marriage. It sounds as though she never got over the tragedies of WWI.
] Does anyone remember the second book?
..itīs interesting how Brittainīs style slightly changes in this book. The heart-wrenching exactness of TOY fades away to give room for more general, wider perspectives: itīs like the exorcistic writing of TOY had done its job for her personally.
The description of speeches held by Goering and Hitler in Germany 1936 is shattering
