Hardy's attitudes about class

Posted by Jane on September 16, 1998 at 10:04:32:

Back to the LibraryI am struck by Hardy's respect for the working class--emphasizing that Tess's emotions and concerns are equally important and deep as a Angel Clare's, for example. He treats women well, too.

Sorry I am not documenting this impression, but I wanted to throw out the idea in case it struck any of you, also.
