I really enjoyed reading this recommendation and anticipate enjoying Carmen Martin Gaite's works. (They are translations, right?)Some of the themes you raised remind me of JA, not the recognized boxed categories "Love" "Money" "Marriage", but themes which are more deeply woven in. You seem to me to be a very sensitive reader. :-)
