I have just finished watching my Jane Eyre video, and forgive me if this question has already been asked and answered, but why could not Mr. Rochester divorce his wife? Was it not possible to divorce an insane spouse? I have not read the novel lately, so maybe it is answered there. But I would appreciate an answer about this. It's not as if Mr. R would not have seen to her care, regardless.
