First, the backcover of the book tells off about half of the story, in my estimate. Then, I keep running into examples taken from Tess everywhere.
Take for instance, when I finished Phase I, I had no other novel handy, so I picked up "What Jane Austen ate and Charles Dickens knew". to read on the train. I opened it at random and start reading the chapter on "Marriage". Would you believe it starts quoting Angel Clare's words to Tess at the end of the novel? (so the book says) What with one thing and the other I am getting it ruined!
And this time I had promised myself I wouldn't peek!
