In response to Gothic Novel Scheldule, written by J.L. on September 07, 1998 at 21:15:19] For any of you who were planning to follow along with me in my gothic novel reading, here's the order and dates of the books:
] 1)The Castle of Otranto by Horace Walpole: Sept. 7th (yeah, that's right--I just finished it! Link below for my review.)
] 2)The Mysteries of Udolpho by Ann Radcliffe: Sept. 14th
] 3)The Monk by M.G. Lewis: Sept. 30th
] 4)Northanger Abbey by Jane Austen: Oct. 14th
] 5)Dracula by Bram Stoker: Oct. 21st
] 6)Frankenstein by Mary Shelley: Nov. 4th
] 7)Wuthering Heights by Emily Bronte: Nov. 11th
Maybe you can answer this question for me -- Is Northanger Abbey considered a Gothic novel? When I read it, it seemed that it was poking fun at the genre, so I was not sure.
Thanks
