Fool men

Posted by Constanza on September 07, 1998 at 15:33:14:

Back to the LibraryThere's a poem by Sor Juana Inés de la Cruz that kept ringing in my head all the time I was reading this first part of Tess.

The poem is called "Hombres Necios" (You fool men). I've found a translation on-line. It is not "excellent", but I think it will do. Anyway, here's the link, and if somebody knows of a better translation, please tell me about it.

BTW, the translator uses "frivolity" as an English equivalent for "liviandad". I don't think that is correct. A woman is "liviana" when she has loose morals.
