Back to the LibraryI'm reading Barbara Pym's 'An Unsuitable Attachment' for the zillionth time and I always wonder what it means when she describes Penelope, the vicar's sister-in-law, as wearing 'tartan trews' at the curch bazaar. What are 'trews'? Is it trousers, in general, or some specific early-70's kind of trousers?

BTW I love Barbara Pym and this one is one of my favorites!
