] Much thanks to the RoP Recommended Reading List!! I just finished the first Amelia Peabody mystery (Crocodile on the Sandbank) from the series by Elizabeth Peters. I absolutely loved it--a good mystery, a strong heroine, wit, romance, archaeology, Egyptian setting--too delicious to resist. And the roaring Emerson makes Darcy look like a kitten. I've already started on the next one.:o)
Like Hannah, I've been waiting for someone to answer your post so I could "back into it", as I was unable to click it directly. (Sounds like a question for the help board:-)) I love Elizabeth Peters, especially the Amelia Peabody series. I'm pretty sure I've read them all! Emerson is a wonderful "hero" and wait until you meet Ramses;-) (I won't say anymore, 'cause I don't want to spoil it for you!)
If you like mysteries set in the Victoria era, you might also like Anne Perry -- she writes novels featuring Charlotte and Thomas Pitt, along with another series on William Monk. She is not as light hearted as Elizabeth Peters, but equally skilled at writing extraordinary mysteries!
