] Much thanks to the RoP Recommended Reading List!! I just finished the first Amelia Peabody mystery (Crocodile on the Sandbank) from the series by Elizabeth Peters. I absolutely loved it--a good mystery, a strong heroine, wit, romance, archaeology, Egyptian setting--too delicious to resist.
I was hoping someone would respond to your post, since I was unable to click directly onto your post and wondered what you were saying about EP's Amelia Peabody! I too loved this series, but my favorite EP series character is Vicky Bliss (Borrower of the Night, Street of the 5 Moons, Trojan Gold, Night Train to Memphis, etc.). If you get a chance - read this series too!
And if you like really spooky, eerie stories (with some wit/humor thrown in for good measure), read Elizabeth Peters' alter ego: Barbara Michaels- "Ammie Come Home" and "Here I Stay" - I love them!
