Back to the Library ] Does anyone else just love the way he describes Bella's 'mysterious disappearances' with John?


... that I don't, but then I'm not a real fan of Dickens' style, especially when he's being coy or sentimental, but I liked Bleak House, Little Dorrit, Nicholas Nickelby and Our Mutual Friend particularly, though I think I like the adaptation of the latter better than the book. It's hard to beat the atmosphere of the opening of OMF, and I think the adaptation did it very well. I haven't read David Copperfield, Great Expectations, A Tale of Two Cities or Oliver Twist for about 30 years. Perhaps I should give them another go.
