I generally would not describe myself as a Dickens fan. I too slogged through Great Expectations only to be dissapointed at the end. I did, however really enjoy Pickwick Papers. It is really long, but really funny. If you haven't already, I suggest you reald Lousia May Alcott's Little Women, since the girls drum up their own "Pickwick Society" which also proves to be very amusing.
