] Quote from letter IV:As a very distinguished flirt I have always been taught to consider her, but it has fallen in my way to hear some particulars of her conduct at Langford, which prove that she does not confine herself to that sort of honest flirtation which satisfies most people, ...
Your quote is the one to which I was refering. But -- now as I read it again, I am not so sure. I read it that he was describing himself as "a very distinguished flirt". On further reading, I now think he is describing her. The sentence is inverted, which contributes to the confusion. However, even without that quote, it seems to me that he is so fascinated with her and her reputation that the message I get is "one good flirt deserves another". He is eager to watch her in action.
