Back to the Library ] If you're interested in the Czech situation post-WWII, there is a brilliant novel called The Cowards by Josef Skvorecky..



Glad you found something funny to recommend to Lesley, Susan H. I haven't read much of anything from WWII (does Catch-22 count?) but I read a very interesting biography about WWI called "Testament of Youth" by Vera Britten, about an upper class young woman who became a nurse then later went to Oxford. It was a Masterpiece Theater/BBC? drama a few years ago. Hard to recommed, though, as it is the saddest book I've ever read.
