Probably not much help, but...

In response to Please help me find these books..., written by Simone on August 09, 1998 at 00:36:20

Back to the Library ] I stumbled across a book at my local library: "The Courageous Exploits of Dr. Syn". It was an exciting story about eighteenth-century smugglers in Kent; who disguise
] themselves as ghostly riders to scare the Revenue people away. Their leader is the ruthless and mysterious Scarecrow. No one knows that he is actually the mild-mannered Dr. Syn, local vicar. A good read - only trouble was that it was #3 or 4 in the series and I can't find any other books in the series. Does anyone know if these were recently in print or if they can be found at one of the e-text archives? Thanks for your patience

These were written in the 1930s, I think. I don't know much more about it, other than there was a 1960s film based on the stories. Here is a page I found that might offer you some clues. Good luck!! :-)
