No, my vocation is very far from journalism. I do get to discuss issues with the writers of technical manuals. I am a software engineer.
Yes, it is great fun to hear from authors of fiction. And I have the Republic of Pemberley to thank. 
I have heard from several authors because they happened upon my Austen Sequel Review page.
