.....I feel it a terrible shame that in this ultra "P.C." world we can't allow ourselves to take things at face value and allow are children to enjoy these books as what I think they are, magical fantasy stories.
I was quite upset when, because of changes in society, children were not allowed to to read Enid Blyton's "Noddy" in the way that she intended it. Gone are the gollywogs, Noddy can no longer enjoyed a cup of cocoa with Big Ears at the end of the day tucked into bed......I'm sorry would children actually pick up on this (bearing in mind that these books are aimed at the under 5s!).....and before you say it I know children aren't stupid but I still don't think that it is going to scar their lives by reading this sort of thing! It didn't scar mine.......well not that I know of! ;-)
I hope that Constanza can read these books and see them as wonderful stories.....I would be interested to know what you think of what we've said, Constanza, when you've read the books!
