Having finished 9 letters, I would say that as a person I don’t like LS at all and I have little or no sympathy for her. At this point I wonder if it is going to be possible to redeem her before the end of the book. (I didn’t like Emma at first either, but I warmed up to her as the story unfolded). LS is going to be very hard to warm up to. I was particularly offended by her calloused description of her daughter. People don’t always like their children, but to describe her daughter in that manner (letter 7), especially to someone outside of the family, is really poor form. If she is disloyal to everyone else in her world, she might at least show a little loyalty to her own daughter.
