] I'm sorry that the differences are so extreme so early, especially as reading is related (I assume) not just to pleasure but to future educational and economic success.
My brother (who is now an anaesthetist - that's an anaesthesioligist in Americaneses) hated reading. But he loved sports -cricket, golf, (Australian) football, etc. So everyone just gave him books about his favourite sports stars, and about how to improve his game - and he read them.
