In response to Unamuno, Borges and Marquez...!!! Capital! Capital! Capital!, written by Marisa on July 29, 1998 at 01:28:47
] Borges is not one of my favorite writers...(snip) I've only limited my borgean reading to school assignments.
Ditto for me! ;-) My 4th Fform Literature teacher was a fan of Borges. He got me at least to acknowledge Borges' greatness... but he could not get me truly like him....No way. ;-)
] I highly recommend Julio Cortazar's short stories, specially "Letters from Mom" (The Secret Weapons). If you love García-Márquez magical realism and Borges stories... you will truly enjoy Cortazar's Fantastic Literature.
I love Cortázar, though it's quite a long time since I've read something of him. (Los Premios has been sleeping in one of my bookshelves for more than a year). Don't you love "Cartas de una señorita en París" or "La noche boca arriba" or "Historia de Cronopios y de Famas" or those tales about his family, and his "instructions" (how to behave at a funeral, how to climb a stair, etc etc) or that one where all the representatives at an international meeting are called Felix?
BTW, have you read "Sobre heroes y tumbas" (Of Heroes and Tombs)? Did you like it?
oops! quite a ramble! Sorry, I was taken away!
