too pompous and conceited for my taste, but a great writer though. I think the only story I like by him is "Ema Zunz", it's about the "perfect crime".
I like GGM very much and A Hundred Years of Solitude is one of my favourite novels. I 've also read Love in Times of Cholera, Twelve Peregrine Stories, Of Love and Other Demons, Chronicle of a Death Foretold, and most of his short stories. News of a Kidnapping is not yet at my Library, so I'll have to wait.
I am currently reading "The Novel of Perón" by Tomás Eloy Martínez. I've also read his "Santa Evita" and found it amazing.
Have you read anything by Alejo Carpentier? Road to Santiago and Travel to the Seed are two wonderful short stories by him. (He is Cuban BTW).
I also like Isabel Allende's Of Love and Shadow and The House of Spirits, but I found Eva Luna a bore and left it after two or three chapters.
And I have read many others Latinamerican authors, but I don't wanna bore you. :-)
PS: Unamuno is Spanish as far as I know.
