Social or People Skills, or Just Plain Common Sense

I've never heard it put that way before (emotional intelligence.) but I think of it as people skills. There are those people who are intelligent, and bright, but have no people skills, and therefore, do not take other people's feelings into consideration. (Like Mr. Darcy at his first proposal for example).
Then there is the example of Mr. Wickham's disclosure of his version of his dealings with the Darcy family. At the time he discloses this wild tale to Elizabeth, she does not think twice about his telling this story to a stranger. Only after reading Mr. Darcy's letter does she think that it was improper for him to speak ill of someone (Mr. Darcy) within a few hours of (Elizabeth's) aquaintace.
There are many other examples, but I think I will let someone else take it from here...
