Back to the Library ] A Naked John Thorpe!!!!

Please NO!!! (Though not nearly as frightening as a naked Mr. Collins... ; )

] If there is one thing that did come over well in the old Northanger Abbey, it's the leer on Capt. Tilney's face at the ball when he's dancing with Isabella.

The old NA movie did have a lot of sexual undertones (Cathy in her night dress during the Gothic horror scenes; the co-ed bathing, etc. ; ) I don't think whoever wrote the article had actually seen the other adaptation because it did the sorts of things they say Davies will do, just a little more heavy-handedly perhaps. (I do tend to defend the old NA movie because I'm rather fond of it. Of course we may not want to see Peter Firth diving into a pond at Northanger as much as we want to see CF doing so.....)
