Charlotte MacLeod is the author of whimsical murder mysteries set in New England and Canada (her Canadian pen name is Alisa Craig). She has a series of novels featuring Peter Shandy, a professor at an agricultural college in Maine, and his wife, Helen, who is the college's librarian. They married each other late in life (in their 50s) and have a cat named Jane Austen who is treated in all ways as their most beloved child.
