The Bronte sisters are my favorites--especially Charlotte; I love the characters she created, even though Emily was the better writer.
Probably my list of favorites goes like this:
1. Jane Eyre (of course)
2. Villette (The story and characterization of Lucy Snowe are wonderful)
3. Wuthering Heights (the writing is beautiful, even if the story's dark)
4. The Tenant of Wildfell Hall
5. Shirley (it's criticized a lot, but the book really is enjoyable)
6. Agnes Grey
7. The Professer
