I have read Gone With the Wind a couple of times and seen the movie at least a dozen times! I think the makers of the movie really got the spirit of Scarlett and Melanie (Rhett too!) as the book portrays them. The best piece of advice my mother ever gave me was to "be like Scarlett O'Hara and worry about it tomorrow." ;-)
