We got here so late, that I had not time even to put a little fresh powder in my hair
I've thought that during the Regency only old-fashioned gentlemen (like General Tilney, and Mrs. Dashwood cousin Sir what's-his-name) used powder. (butlers and servants being excluded, of course). So, why does Mr. Musgrave apologyse for being a little "unpowdered"?
