] This is a topic I have often thought about but seldom articulated. Somehow, this discussion of Sir T. stimulated a coherent formulation of the idea even to myself--one of the very great advantages of hanging out at Pemberley!
One of "the very great advantages" of hanging round at Pemberley for me is the opportunity for hanging round people like you - people who extract my latent meaning from my ill- thought out & disorderly train-of-thought style (I do not mean this as a piece of modesty like Bingleys!)and who respond with insightful & . You Constanza & Lea are great exemplars of the "Pemberley lucid and articulate message of significant import" - the only (very verbose) name I could think of for a genre which needs to be named sometime or other. Perhaps there is a better Austen-inflected one - sub-genres named after Austen heroines? A post which is clear & orderly, but restrained & ironic is an Elinor? Spirited "sweet & arch" with the quality of a retort a Lizzy? Is it late at night & I'm just confusing myself? I thik I have a definite answer to that - yes! I meant to say that I enjoy these MP discussions. I learn a lot from all of you.
