] I do think it's a little odd that Elizabeth and Emma have this very personal conversation very soon after Emma has got home - it seems as though they hardly know each other, and yet Elizabeth is shelling out all the dirt on her sisters and the local young men - the young men I can understand, as she needs to warn Emma off, but you see what I mean.

It is very strange as they haven't seen each other for so long. I have two sisters and I don't think I've ever had a revealing converstation with either of them. Jane Austen does seem to paint a rosy picture of sisterly love.
