LIONS AND LIQUORICE

Apparently, before I discovered the Republic of Pemberley, you had a discussion of LIONS AND LIQUORICE by Kate Fenton. I am sorry I missed this, but I much appreciate the recommendations that have cropped up, from time to time, about this book. I finally bought it from Jane Austen Books in Chicago and found it to be well worth the time and money. Very clever and funny. Now I hope to be able to find the author's other novels. One thing I wondered about was the rating on the Sequels Page; the reader comments were quite
positive, but the book received only a 6 (average) rating.
I must say, too, that I thought this much funnier and better written than BRIDGET JONES' DIARY, but I guess I am in the minority in my disappointment about the latter. If BJD is a pastiche of PRIDE AND PREJUDICE, Bridget is sadly lacking in Lizzy's intelligence--in my opinion. Sorry for the long post!
