Back to the Library ] ... you might like to read "Travesties" by Tom Stoppard... which uses the structure of The Importance of Being Earnest to imagine a meeting between James Joyce, Tristan Tzara, Lenin, and a scion of the Empire whose name I have forgotten at the moment, in the improbable, fictionalized story of a production of "TIOBE" in Zurich in the middle of the First World War


It would be even more interesting if Stoppard had used Trotsky instead of Lenin; Trotsky actually wrote a long essay very influential in early 20th century Leftist thought entitled On Art, 1918. Don't remember if Trotsky was with Lenin in Zurich or no, but a little detail like that shouldn't stop a playwright (-:
