Back to the Library ] OK, here's an issue that concerns me. Alberto accepts, almost without question, the Dead White European Male tradition of philosophy. Sophie occasionally challenges him on this, but it's not really explored.

] Even if Gaardner/Alberto couldn't come up with any more female philosphers, I think it's a bit restrictive to look only at the Western philosophical tradition.

I see what you are saying. It would have been much more a history of the world's philosophies had he included Eastern thought as well. It would have been good if he had explained the beliefs of Chinese philsophers, etc., however, it does not detract from the rest of the book that he did not.
