Perhaps my lack of experience with long-term relationships casts doubt on my judgment, but....I think Jane Fairfax will be quite happy for the nine or ten years that she lives with Frank and Mr. Churchill. She is so very much in love, and has such dreadful prospects without Frank, that she cannot help comparing any situation with the alternative she must have suffered. Though she may be happy, you see, I do not expect the couple to have much tranquility--they are both so highly charged with emotion, and she dies young, perhaps of childbirth or the weak lungs that run in the family. It would take more than ten years for her to weary of her husband! If Charlotte can command herself to be content in her situation, surely Jane Fairfax can bear with Frank's vagaries! She has quite as much to be grateful for, and more.
