marriage and money

We've often mentioned JA's pragmatic attitude for the need for money in marriage, which was contrary to the "romantic" tradition of marrying only for love with no concern for the practicalities of life.
In L & F she sends up this romantic attitude: when asked what Laura will eat, Edward protests that she doesn't need to eat, she is such a refined creature.
