I was poking around on the Celebration of WOmen Writers boards and found an on-line copy of Fanny Burney's Evelina. I stumbled across a scene that was like an exaggerated version of Henry Crawford proposing to Fanny Price--except that JA must have read Evelina long before she wrote that scene, so I should say that JA UN-exaggerated it!
